Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful things that my profession as a photographer in Mallorca brings me is the chance to meet many people. Sometimes there is a special connection with them and we go from being strangers to a beautiful friendship. On this occasion it has been like that from the beginning and don’t ask me why, it has been incredible. Pedro contacted me one day telling me that he needed a wedding proposal photographer in Mallorca. In the conversation on the phone I could tell he was very excited and with the normal nerves for such a special occasion.

Of course I told him that I would be very happy to be his photographer for this wedding proposal in Mallorca. To organize everything we messaged each other several times and he explained to me how he wanted to do it and that everything would be a surprise of course. The funniest thing is that he has a daughter called Noa and my dog is also called Noa. Immediately there was a very good feeling on both sides and it was time for us to meet in person.

Precisely that week I had an exhibition of the works I did in Japan in March. I invited him to the opening of One Night in Kyoto with his boyfriend Manu. Of course we had to pretend that I didn’t know anything about the proposal and that we were only going to do a couple photo session.

We met on the day of the exhibition for the first time. As soon as they entered the restaurant they caught our attention as they are both very handsome. They make an incredible couple with a very elegant style. I immediately went over to give them a hug and welcome them, thanking them for being there on such a special day for me. They both come from creative backgrounds, both in architecture and design. They have a great appreciation for art which I love. We played the role well and Manu didn’t realise at all that I was going to be his wedding proposal photographer in Mallorca.

When the day of the photo shoot arrived, I had already met Pedro for a drink beforehand to finalise the details. He had shown me the ring, which is beautiful and very elegant. I had bought a bottle of Ruinart champagne to toast with after the proposal and I also brought glasses in my backpack. Everything was ready and we were very excited and nervous. We arranged to have it one day in a spectacular place that I know and that seemed perfect for them.

Engagement photography in Mallorca

The two arrived with several changes of clothes in the car to choose from and accessories. There was going to be a change after what they were wearing. They were both dressed in Ibizan white as if they had just come out of an advert, they looked gorgeous. We were on our way, first to the forest area and then to the sea. Pedro looked at us secretly, almost unable to hide his excitement, he couldn’t stand it any longer.

They had never been to this place before and found it very beautiful. The truth is that we live in a paradise and it has hidden places that only some islanders know about. Little by little we went deeper into the forest and I started to take photos of them. It is normal to be nervous at the beginning, especially if you have never had a photo session before. However, with them it was very easy and they felt at ease. There was a brutal light filtering through the trees and it was very beautiful. I told them to do several things and between laughs the photos were coming out and they were looking great.

We headed to the area of rocks and sea which I love, a few years ago I did an editorial about sustainability in weddings here which was magical. We were lucky that as it was a secret place there was no one there and for me as a wedding proposal photographer in Mallorca it was important. Also, as it was going to be something very intimate and special it was much better that the place was empty.

I made them change their clothes, they had brought tunics and black trousers that fitted them perfectly. I could already see that the light was softer and the sun was slowly going down. The moment was approaching and I got them into position. I had agreed with Pedro that I would play a game in which Manu had to close his eyes. Then Pedro would approach him from the front and get down on his knees with the ring in his hands.

Just like that, we got into position and Manu waited with his eyes closed. Pedro kneeled down and Manu opened his eyes, it was a magical few seconds. They both looked at each other with tears in their eyes, Manu couldn’t believe it. He had not imagined at all that this would happen and he was in shock. They melted into a beautiful embrace, crying and kissing each other full of emotion. We were also in tears, it was so beautiful that I will never forget this moment in my life.

We brought out the bottle of Ruinart and the glasses for them to toast their happiness. They climbed to the top of the rocks and the champagne exploded with joy as if blessing what had just happened. They toasted and still full of emotion we continued a little more with the session. The sunset wanted to join all this happiness and together we watched and made a wish.

Without a doubt it has been very nice to be an accomplice and witness of this explosion of love, feelings and emotions. They will have many beautiful photos to remember it by and we hope to be able to share more occasions like this in life. I am sure that their daughter Noa will be very happy to see them in the future. They are great dads and beautiful people inside and out who really love each other with lots of love. I wish them all the happiness in the world and thank them for trusting me.
