Four years ago I did a sustainable editorial in Mallorca that was very special for me. It was a production that I directed and produced with great colleagues in this profession. I wanted to address the issue that sustainable weddings can be done and in this way make it visible. I also wanted the couple in question to be interracial because love is always the most important thing. Thanks to this editorial, the couple that I present to you today, decided to choose me as their wedding photographer Spain.
Carlota lives in Oviedo but has been all over the world due to her profession. She has a degree in Dentistry and thanks to the twists and turns of fate she met Richard. Her now husband. Richard has his origins in Ghana and has lived in several cities in the United States. The thing about love is that we are all destined to find that better half. It doesn’t matter if you are born or live here or there. Once destiny brought them together this beautiful love story began.

Wedding photography in Spain
She saw the editorial I told you about and fell in love with my photos and my way of reflecting the moments and feelings in them. When she had a clear idea of the date and location for her wedding with Richard she contacted me to be her wedding photographer in Spain. Of course I couldn’t have been happier, it was an honour to be able to witness that day and make the best memories for them.
After many conversations sharing plans, ideas and illusions, the big day arrived. We were going to travel to Oviedo to have lunch with Richard’s family and Carlota’s family on the first day. It was going to be a good moment for them to meet each other and for me it was an opportunity to do it too. I love it when I can have that opportunity and talk to the families, get to know them a little bit. So on the day of the wedding when we see each other there is already a complicity and trust.

Wedding photographer in Spain
She and Richard came to pick us up to attend this lunch where they were all going to be dressed with African motifs. The lunch was going to be organised by Vintage bodas who do a lot of events and are great professionals. He showed up with a divine colourful jacket and she with a beautiful dress with the same fabric. They had had it made to measure at Gana and they looked spectacular. We gave each other a big hug and were very happy to see each other in person at last. It was as if we had known each other all our lives, all smiles and happiness.
We met everyone at that meal which was very special and we were able to experience all the affection, kindness and education that they share. They are like an extension of Carlota and Richard who are now one big family forever. Afterwards we went to the location of the wedding which was going to be at El Palacio de Cutre. They showed us all the spaces which were beautiful and we went to bed looking forward to the next day which was going to be very magical.
The day woke up sunny and beautiful, Carlota had been afraid of rain but it was not possible that it would rain. Everything had to be perfect and so the weather was perfect. We were picked up by the groom Richard, all calm and smiling, they had had a dinner with friends the night before. But they had taken care to go to bed at a reasonable hour to be well, which is important.

We arrived at the Palacio de Cutre, which is so well kept and beautiful, the truth is that this area is impressive. All green and so well cared for with dreamy mountain views and a beautiful light that was going to accompany us all day. We greeted Santi Cayuela who was going to be the videographer for this wedding and we went to greet Carlota. She was in her room getting ready with the last touches of hair and make-up. We arranged to meet her later.
Started with Richard who was accompanied by Daniel, his godfather and best friend from childhood. We had met him the day before and he is such a kind and close person that there was a great connection from the moment we met him. No wonder he is Richard’s best friend because they complement each other very well and they share profession as well. In the room we used a window that gave a perfect direct light for Richard to get ready right in front of it.
Wedding at Palacio de Cutre
Richard has modelled for a few brands before and you can tell he has that natural attraction in front of the camera. He knows how to move and look in love with the lens and he is so elegant and charismatic that he looked good on all of them. The Maen Concept suit from a tailor’s shop in Oviedo fitted him like a glove. It was a pleasure to be with him these previous hours, all calm and happy, he was wonderful.
We left him with Daniel and went to see the bride Carlota. She was wearing a beautiful coloured African kafkan with fringed sleeves. Her hairstyle had a few ornaments that stood out in the updo and her make-up was very natural. It was all the work of Paloma Suarez who had nailed it. She didn’t need anything else because she is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. Without a doubt a very stylish and beautiful bride.
Her mother and sister were there to help her put on her Alicia Rueda Atelier dress. Without a doubt a work of art that looked spectacular on her, very elegant, with a long cape that covered her shoulders and back. As a wedding photographer Spain the dress gave a lot of play for the photos and it is one of the most beautiful I have seen without a doubt.
Wedding photography in Asturias
When we finished Carlota’s preparations we went to welcome the guests who were arriving with Richard. There were about 160 guests of all nationalities who greeted each other and were happy to be there. They were seated in the ceremony area, which was an all grass area with a large tree presiding over it, giving the place a solemn atmosphere. Leading the ceremony was a reverend friend of Richard’s family that we had met the day before. He was with Carlota’s brother-in-law who was going to translate into Spanish.
For this wedding the bride and groom had put together a great team of professionals and it gave me great joy to meet the great Okka dj. Without a doubt Juan Coto is a reference and to be able to share this day with him providing the soundtrack was a dream.
It all started with the entrance music of Richard and his mother. They did it dancing and happily greeting everyone with a big smile. His mother is undoubtedly a very special person who was radiant to see her son so happy.
Then all the others came in and finally the bride. On her father’s arm she appeared down the aisle and Richard could only get emotional, it was a very special moment. When they came together at the altar they were the perfect couple surrounded by all their loved ones, friends and family. We couldn’t have asked for more, as a wedding photographer Spain it was one of the most special weddings I have ever had.
Wedding photographer in Asturias
The ceremony continued beautifully with readings, speeches, candlelight ceremony with the mothers and vows. Richard and Carlota burst into tears as they looked at each other. Put on their rings and walked out amidst petals. Everyone congratulated them with hugs and kisses.
We took them to the front of the Palacio de Cutre for a couple’s photo session. The light of Asturias and the whole landscape was beautiful. It was a pleasure to take the photos I had planned for them.
Every wedding and every couple is unique so I spend a lot of time planning the photos and getting everything done quickly and well so they can get back to the party. The great Okka dj was already with the music on full blast making the guests dance and enjoy. For this wedding the catering could not be less. They had hired Chef Nacho Manzano an eminence that with his art made enjoy every bite to put the perfect point of flavor to this great day. We were lucky to be able to taste his delicacies and meet him in person.
Photographer in Spain
The cocktail party was a great with everyone dancing and the bride and groom giving their all. Without a doubt I had a great time taking photos and dancing with the guests. From there we went to the banquet that was going to be held under the big marquee that the Palacio de Cutre has. Everything was perfectly decorated with candles and gift bags from the bride and groom to the guests. They made the entrance and enjoyed the incredible menu prepared by chef Nacho Manzano with lobster included. There were several speeches from guests and family members which then gave way to the party.
Okka dj had prepared a disco area with lights for them to give it all until dawn. The bride and groom did the first dance among all the guests with sparklers. Dancing to the perfect music and also enjoying the photo-call that Carlota had prepared and the open bar of Malasaña Coctelería.
Juan gave me the opportunity to do a little DJing as I was looking forward to it and Carlota wanted me to do it. It was a great opportunity and I will always be grateful to him. Without a doubt the perfect ending to this dream wedding that we will never forget. I thank Carlota and Richard for their trust, love and kindness. I wish them all the love in the world and I hope to see them again very soon.
