Architectural and interior design photography in Mallorca.

This March I was asked to do architectural and interior design photography in Mallorca. The photos would be of several luxury homes here on the island. I had worked before with these two big companies in the luxury real estate sector. One is Balearic Home Mallorca and the other is Firstclass Holidays Munchen. They are the best when it comes to finding luxury holiday home rentals and first class villa rentals. They also offer specialised services tailor-made for an unforgettable time in Mallorca. So I knew when they contacted me that the houses would be amazing.

I am fortunate that on this amazing island there are stunning luxury homes. Great architects have designed them with all kinds of details that make them works of art. One of my passions is to do this kind of photography in spaces and locations. Each frame needs the photographer to give it a personal touch and I often do life style photography to give it a more cosy touch.

I did a master’s degree in architectural and interior lighting photography in Madrid with Jesús Alonso. That helped me for this type of photography that requires a very special technique.

The first of the houses I have photographed this time is called Villa Lucinda. Located in Cala Vinyas it is an incredible house with a very exclusive decoration. The owners have exquisite taste and have thought of all the details for a comfortable stay without missing anything. The first thing that catches the eye is the spiral staircase at the entrance. It comes from a British Airways Airbus aircraft where it was used. This makes it very special and unique.

I always like to go to the places beforehand when I do architectural and interior design photography in Mallorca. I do this to make sure I know all the spaces I have to photograph. That’s why the day I’m going to do the photo shoot I already have everything planned and I go with total organisation.

Outdoor photography

As soon as we arrived we started in the terrace area where the breakfast table was already set. This part of the house next to the kitchen is very lively and beautiful. With views of the garden and the swimming pool, waking up and having breakfast there is a pleasure. As it was March we had a windy day and the umbrellas in the garden kept swinging. Sometimes there are things you can’t fight and you have to adapt and be patient.

From this area we went to the garden where I wanted to capture the model on one of the sun loungers. For this session I asked for a big pamela that I knew would give me a lot of play on certain occasions. What happened was that the wind we had to fight with made it a bit difficult. But these are things that happen and you have to adapt when doing architectural and interior design photography in Mallorca.

hen we went to the little house on the other side of the garden. It’s a totally lovely place. It has all the comforts and is like a secluded place with lots of privacy. I took advantage of my little dog Noah to pose and give it an original touch. The lovely owner of the house has three dogs so she was delighted with Noah.

Then we move on to the kitchen area which is fully equipped. Cooking there must be wonderful and an experience in every way. The music from the Sonos sound system was coming out of the speakers that are located throughout the house. I love working with music. Once the kitchen was finished we went to the main bathroom where one of the models got into the bathtub full of foam. The large window in front of the bathtub is a real eye-catcher, so you can enjoy the view while relaxing in the bathtub.

The master bedroom is a spacious and bright space. From one of its windows you can see the sea. It has a very practical and large open dressing room. Another bedroom past the studio also has sea views and is ideal for relaxing. There is a terrace next to it and a spiral staircase leading to the terrace above. From there you can see the whole Tramuntana mountains and the sea. It is an ideal place to have parties and enjoy with friends.

Little by little I finished this architectural and interior design photography session in Mallorca. I left for the end the living room which is spectacular. With a large window overlooking the garden, the first thing you come across is the white piano at the entrance. With artwork on the walls where Marilyn is the centre of attention, it is a place to relax, listen to music or read.

Villa Lucinda is undoubtedly a very special place to relax and spend an unforgettable time in Mallorca.
