We are on a privileged island, Mallorca is undoubtedly a place chosen by many people to live. Its impressive and well-kept nature invites more and more people to fall in love with it.
Spectacular houses and mansions have been built over the years all over the island. Many celebrities who come here on holiday and visit the bays dream of owning a property here. As an architectural and interior design photographer in Mallorca I am lucky enough to be able to photograph many of these houses.

The best architects and interior designers are called in to design these properties. They use all their ingenuity and creativity to produce spectacular results. Perhaps one of the most famous houses is S’Estaca which is owned by the famous actor Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. In the Tramuntana mountain range with spectacular sea views it was on sale last year for 29 million euros after dropping from 50 million. With a plot of 770,000 square metres it was built in 1867 and consists of 10 suites and an amazing swimming pool. Now the actor, with everything that is happening in the world, does not want to sell it. He plans to use it as a permanent residence, which is not surprising.

Mallorca and its architecture

As an architectural and interior design photographer in Mallorca I know that the island has always followed the main trends in architecture. There are buildings in the city centre such as “Can Corbella”, “Casa de las Medias” or “Gran Hotel” in modernist and Art Nouveau style. These buildings have been influenced by geniuses such as Gaudí. We can also find great examples in the Bellver Castle, La Lonja or the Cathedral of Santa Maria.

Now in the 21st century architects create modern concepts full of light and with values such as sustainability. They take care to use all the modern technology at their disposal to use the energy of the sun for example in their work. They use space and nature above all to give a sense of freedom. The quality of life sought after in Mallorca is well matched by these marvellous architectural creations.

Luxury house in Mallorca

As an architectural and interior design photographer in Mallorca I have recently had the opportunity to photograph a spectacular house. It is situated in the hills of Sóller, a very exclusive location. From the house you can see the whole bay of Sóller which is spectacular by day and by night.

The house is reached by a dirt road that if you don’t know how to get there, you can easily get lost, which makes it a very hidden place. This is something sought after by many people who wish to live in a place where privacy is absolute.

The day I had the opportunity as an architectural and interior design photographer in Mallorca to go there, it was sunny and beautiful. We arrived at noon and from the beginning it seemed to me a house full of possibilities.

The quality of all the materials used during its construction was the best. The architect knew how to use all the space available to create a place to live in harmony with nature.

There was a main house downstairs next to the swimming pool and a guest house a little higher up. In the guest house, two double bedrooms and bathrooms were built. In addition, there is a gym with all the latest machines on the market.

The main house is entered through a beautiful wooden door leading into a huge open plan living room with a fireplace on the left hand side. Being an architectural and interior design photographer in Mallorca I pay attention to all the details and I loved it as soon as I entered. More and more in new constructions the lines between inside and outside are disappearing to create an open space.

The living room has an entire wall with large windows that let in sun and light for most of the day. You go out through them and find the incredible view of the Bay of Sóller. An ideal place to have lunch or dinner under the shade of a tree.

On the right hand side is the swimming pool which is regulated by a fully automatic system sustainable and can be heated according to your wishes. The temperature can be regulated depending on the season of the year thanks to the solar panels used.

The gardens are beautiful thanks to the care of an expert gardener who comes every day. There are all kinds of plants and trees that give that Mallorcan air of living surrounded by nature.

Without a doubt the most important materials are the light and the sea as well as the famous Majorcan stone.

As a photographer of architecture and interior design in Mallorca I can say that the island is becoming more fashionable than ever as many people are now choosing it as a second home. It is growing as one of the best options in the world for its quality of life and privacy.
